Argentina’s culture has absorbed the customs and traditions of a multitude of different peoples. After so much immigration from various countries, it’s no wonder! There’s also a solid connection to Europe. Spain and Italy, in particular, stand out. Spanish is the official language of Argentina, but the people there still spoke local languages in some areas. Italian is also still spoken by most of the population.
Some of the most highly developed fields of art in Argentina include theatre, the fine arts, dance (including the world-famous Argentine Tango), sculpture, music (including some folklore), and literature.
The cities offer interesting pre-colonial architecture and beautiful buildings and cathedrals from the colonial era. A holiday to Argentina may well turn out to be cultural and informative!
Exquisite beef and wine make Argentine cuisine stand out!
But that’s not all. Spanish, Italian, Creole, and Native American cuisines are significant influences. Also, local dishes have adopted many recipes from neighboring countries.
Various vegetables, fruit, spices, seasonings, meat, beans, wheat products, rice, and cereals are used.Â
One popular dish is the Asado of meat products. Here, the meat is grilled or roasted on a spit. There’s even a National Barbecue Festival to mark the occasion. Also very common in Argentina are: empanadas (filled pie), Choripán (sandwich), Puchero (Spanish origin), Cotoletta alla Milanese (Italian origin), and Fugazza.
The classic desserts are:
And of course, one should not forget about Argentine wine. It is of a top level here.
The tango is really a combination of many cultures, though it eventually became the national music of Argentina.
