mOROCCO

Morocco tours are tourism and discovery with an ancient flavor, where culture and nature come together to offer a unique experience!

KINGDOM OF THE WEST

Location

Morocco is on the Atlantic coast and the Mediterranean Sea in northwest Africa. It borders Algeria to the southeast and east by land and Mauritania to the south. But some countries do not recognize this border and believe that to the south, Morocco borders North Sahara (but the Moroccan side considers this territory it’s own), so a clear border is not defined here. Keep this in mind when organizing Morocco tours.

Capital

Weather

The country has several climatic zones, and the exciting places to visit in Morocco are located in different parts. For instance, the Mediterranean coastal area has a more subtropical climate, while closer to the south is a continental climate, with hotter summers and cooler winters.

Precipitation falls predominantly in the north than the south, and the mountainous areas can be more relaxed. And the whole southeastern part is the famous Sahara Desert.

Steppes extend across much of the country. There are plenty of caves and ancient woodland areas too!

How to get

There are several ways to get to Morocco:

  1. By plane from many cities around the world. The most comfortable way.
  2. By ferry from Spain, France, and Italy.
  3. By car or by bus from the Spanish cities of Ceuta and Melilla.

Culture and art

Morocco has a rich and diverse culture. A mixture of cultures can be seen, from the indigenous Berbers to the Phoenicians, the Arabs, the Andalusians, the Romans, and other neighboring peoples.

The country has a long history of developing literature and in different languages. And the film industry has also recently received attention. Contemporary art has also made great strides; art galleries and museums have been opened in Morocco.

Traditional Moroccan music includes Berber folk music, Malhun, Gnaoua, Chaabi, and others.

In terms of architecture, the buildings here are predominantly in the Dar (Dar al-Islam) style. The exterior is unadorned, and the walls are relatively thick and sturdy for security.

For clothing, many locals wear the djellaba tunic, and for footwear, the alpha.

Cuisine

Moroccan cuisine has absorbed various cultural and traditional customs of several peoples, including Berber and Arabic cuisines. Many places to visit in Morocco offer interesting local gastronomy.

Local menus include meat (often lamb), chicken, vegetables, fruit, herbs, fish, seafood, many pulses, various bowls of cereal and wheat products, dairy products, olive and argan oils, and dates. Dishes are heavily seasoned with various spices and herbs and mixed flavors (e.g., meat with honey), and drinks include the popular mint tea.

Here are some famous Moroccan dishes:

Morocco, as it is, is a very fine place spoiled by civilization.

The tourist season

The high season in this North African country is from April to October. There are many tourists during this time, so plan your Morocco tours without getting in the way. Also, many European tourists come to this beautiful country for Christmas and New Year holidays. During the rest of the months, there are not as many travelers.

Bear in mind that Morocco is a Muslim country, and many sites may be closed during Ramadan.

Beach holiday

From May to October.

For these, you can go to the Atlantic coast, where the water is more relaxed (Agadir or Essaouira), or to the Mediterranean coast, where the water is warmer( Saidia). Or head to Tangier generally, on the Strait of Gibraltar and where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea.

City holidays

All year-round. But better from March to November, when it is not so hot.

Natural holiday

All year-round.

But better from March to November. The summer months can be hot, so pack water and appropriate clothing. And in the winter, it snows in the mountainous areas. For example, consider the Sahara Desert, the Atlas Mountains, Paradise Valley, or the Ifrane National Park for trekking.

The Atlantic coast (Essaouira) is suitable for this.

Ski holidays

From January to February.

The Atlas Mountains (Oukaimeden and Ifran) are a popular destination.

Holidays with children

Holidays in Morocco with children can be a pleasant, exotic adventure. Learn about Arab and Berber culture, the famous Sahara Desert, and many excursions. If you like a bit of swimming, the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts offer plenty of beaches to enjoy.

For those too young to attend, it’s best to head for a comfortable resort hotel with all the necessary facilities. Such hotels are mainly located in Agadir. Also, remember that Morocco can be challenging to navigate with a pram.

When holidaying with older children, be more careful about what they eat. Food can be spicy, especially the local soups. Be sure to take an anti-stomach medication, just in case. And don’t forget to take out travel insurance.

Be sure to add the various local craft workshops that can amuse the whole family, especially those that teach you how to make Moroccan sweets.
