How to get

The easiest way to get to Singapore’s capital city is by plane. The country has a large international airport (Singapore Changi Airport). Keep in mind that not all cities and even countries have direct flights. Sometimes, you will need to transfer to Dubai, Tokyo, Shanghai, or Frankfurt am Main, Germany. You can also travel to Singapore from Thailand and Malaysia by bus. You can also take a ferry from Malaysia and the Indonesian islands of Batam and Bintan by water. Unfortunately, you can only travel by train from the Malay town of Johor Bahru.

Culture and art

Singapore is very diverse in its cultural content, thanks to the mixing of different peoples. For example, the traditions of Chinese, Indian, Malay, and Indonesian heritage stand out. The influence of the British colonial era is also noticeable since just under half of the inhabitants are foreigners. Many religions are respected, and locals try not to oppress specific religious communities. Religious festivals are celebrated all over the country.

There are multiple festivals and celebrations in honor of Singapore’s culture. Therefore, during your visit to the places to visit in Singapore, you can also get an exciting holiday. There is an art school, energetic music (modern and folk), literature, and various means of communication (newspapers, magazines, television, radio, etc.).

Cuisine

Food has a prominent place in Singapore’s culture, and Singaporean cuisine is very diverse, with its many dishes formed by immigrants from various Asian countries. Besides traditional recipes, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Malay, and Indonesian cuisines are very popular. You can also try dishes from European countries (Portugal and the UK). The locals add many spices to the plates. The basis of many recipes is rice. Also here people prefer to eat vegetables, fruit, noodles, seafood and fish, meat and chicken. In Singapore, as in other Asian countries, durian is eaten. These fruits have a particular smell, so they may not be transported on public transport.

Many of the dishes in the country have appeared with visitors (later transformed). Here are some of the well-known food in Singapore:

  • Katong Luxa (rice noodles with clams);
  • Satay (meat shish kebab, from Malay and Indonesian cuisine);
  • Nasi lemak (rice with chicken, from Malaysian cuisine);
  • Cendol (an iced sweet dessert that contains droplets);
  • char png (fried rice with meat, from Chinese cuisine);
  • Hainan rice with chicken (from Chinese cuisine);
  • Roti Prata (pancakes, from Indian and Pakistani cuisine);

Grilled fish and seafood, under various sauces, all kinds of omelets, and just eggs are also prevalent in Singapore. Many freshly squeezed juices, tea (еh Tarik), and coffee (kopi) with condensed milk are drunk. Of the alcoholic drinks, the Singapore beer Tiger is worth highlighting. Other alcoholic beverages are not as popular.

There's nowhere that looks like Singapore; it's absolutely beautiful on a purely aesthetic level.

Beach holiday

From February to September

Optimum time from June to August. From November to January, there is a lot of rainfall. In February, March, and October, there can also be plenty of rain, but not as much as November to January. June is considered the hottest month of the year.

For beach holidays, Singapore has never had the glory of a beach state. But times are changing, and the country’s beaches are becoming cleaner and more modern. All beaches are municipal, accessible, and have basic infrastructure and an area with an awning to shelter them from the sun or rain. However, it should be noted that the efforts of Singaporean officials are not in vain, and individual beaches are pretty worthwhile for a good beach holiday. Here are some examples of beaches that you can visit during your stay in Singapore:

City holidays

You can visit Singapore capital city all year round. Although Singapore’s weather is always hot & humid, there is less rain from June to September and much more rain from November to January, with humidity increasing several times. During the New Year holidays and traditional festivals, many tourists come to Singapore.

Natural holiday

You can visit wild places in Singapore, like the city itself, all year round, but the months from February to October are the best months for this. Remember that from November to January, there will be a lot of rainfall and more humidity. In March, it can be foggy. From June to September, the weather is drier.

Diving

You can dive all year round. From December to March, during the monsoon season, the quality of diving may deteriorate slightly. Water temperature is relatively stable (from +27 to +30 degrees Celsius), water clarity is up to 10 meters. The currents in the Pulau Jong and Pulau Hantu areas are vital. There are places both for more experienced divers and for beginners, diving schools, and diving centers where you can rent equipment. Many sea creatures in these waters are pleasant to observe; the coral reefs and shipwrecks are beautiful. The principal places for diving are:

  • Pulau Jong
  • Sudong Island (there is a rock: The Sudong),
  • Sisters’ Islands Marine Park,
  • Pulau Hantu, Labrador reef,
  • Kusu Island.

Festivals

Many holidays and festivals are celebrated. All in different months. For example, Chinese New Year (January), River Hongbao (February), Singapore Maritime Week (April), Singapore International Film Festival (April), Vesak Day (May), Hari Raya Puasa (May), Singapore Arts Festival (May), Dragon Boat Festival (June), Ballet under the Stars (September/October), Singapore Food Festival (July), Singapore Night Festival (August), Hungry Ghosts Festival (September), Formula 1-night race (September), Singapore Sun Festival (October), Deepavali (November).

Holidays with children

Even though Singapore is not as big a country as many others, children may also like it. As a family, you can go to a beautiful zoo, water park, butterfly park, botanical garden, and other magnificent parks. In addition, there is an amusement park, an illusion museum, and even a night safari. You can also relax on the beach and take a ride in the cable car, which offers excellent views of the local nature. Medical and sanitary conditions in Singapore are pretty good, so this is another plus for family visits.

Holidays Adventures

Active tourists will not be saddened in Singapore either. Here you can get your adrenalin dose in sufficient quantity. You will fly in a turbine (iFly Singapore) or go down the Luge sleds on Sentosa Island.

AJ Hackett Sentosa offers Bungy Jump from a glass bridge and 47 meters high for more active travelers, or Giant Swing at 40 meters high. In addition, tracking, cycling, tennis, cricket, golf, basketball, water sports, including kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, water skiing, scuba diving, etc., can also be practiced in many places to visit in Singapore.
